Let Yourself Trust

Let God be large and in charge
as if you couldn’t stop
that from being true.
Have the humility
to understand
that the one who saves
and the one who is saved
come from the same origin.

Relinquish the hubris that says
you have any power
or ability of your own;
you did not know how
to spring into existence
nor did you bequeath yourself
your resplendent blessings.

Allow yourself
the grace to stand aside,
while God sweeps in ahead of you;
show respectful deference
to the majestic infinity
that is already there,
exposing both your
virtuous sanctity
and your clinging
(or carefree!)
dependence.

Let God be with
your mouth,
your growth,
your strength,
your every opportunity,
your sanguine hopes,
your every response.
Know yourself as content
to follow greatness;
God is not domineering,
but rather supportive,
not authoritative
so much as gently nurturing.

We have free will
to choose the only way,
either now or later. Why delay?
Why hold back and hold out
on eternal good?
Why argue and plead
with omnipotence?

Instead, rejoice, relax,
luxuriate in the generosity,
notice all the incredible beauty,
jump at each invitation to reflect,
create, appreciate, accept, discover.

Let yourself trust
the power that put
the planets in their orbits
to govern each and every
moment of your life.
Be thankful,
be obedient,
let your heart
shine forth
and be sure.
Keep moving
towards freedom
and the dazzling light.
