Last Friday we went to Brimfield which is a huge antique flea market in Massachusetts. We last went when our two older children were in a stroller, so it’s been a while, but my husband wanted to go back. We were there walking from booth to booth from 10 am until 4pm– over 10,000 steps– and my husband doesn’t even think we saw half of it. There were probably literally a thousand vendors.
We had fun looking at the wide myriad of stuff, some expensive, some good deals. We did buy a few good finds:
- The solid walnut chair shown last below and my husband shown carrying it back to the car above, which I’ll sit on to eat on our newly repainted side porch.
- A heavy, solid necklace of lapis lazuli. Feels fabulous, is a great color, and worth a whole lot more than we paid.
- three fiesta ware bowls to replace broken ones we preciously had.
- two yellow glass pyrex oven ware with lids from the 1950’s, so I can use less aluminum foil.
- a utensil to get crumbs off a tablecloth.
- a greenish yellow necklace of glass beads from Ghana.
- an orange bakelite handled ice cream (or pancake or cookie) scoop also from the 1950’s.
You can see photos of all that last below, but meanwhile, between here ans there, you can see all sorts of other things that caught my eye.
We has a lovely day, complete with a lobster grilled cheese from a food truck. I am glad all this preowned stuff is finding new homes and will be continue to be used and appreciated.
