I had a lovely birthday yesterday, thanks to all the wonderful people wishing me well and showering me with love.
Our younger daughter came home to give me the amazing art journal she made for me, which she quilted on the outside, and sewed into a coptic binding with sumptuous BFK Rives paper inside (11″x14″). She calls me the “Mama Bear,” maybe partly because of all our bear stories that make people say that bears are my “spirit animal,” but probably more because of my bear hugs and how I’ll tenaciously stick up for my cubs. But maybe too it is all the salmon and blueberries I eat? Anyway, this handmade gift is brilliant and gorgeous; I’m so grateful to have it and look forward to the luxury of using it.
You can also see my crazy generous gifts from my husband – a 18″x24″ Gelli Plate and some ritzy, Roche pastels– which I also can’t wait to utilize! He also made me a Gougere early in the day, and took me out to dinner. My sisters lavished me too, as well as our older daughter who gave me my gift in Morocco.
While I don’t count years, I certainly do count blessings and every trip around the sun is filled with countless ones of them, and each one of you is included in that. I’m so very grateful for all of it, combined and mounting.
