Muddy (New Poem by Polly Castor)

Muddy (New Poem by Polly Castor)

Muddy, Poem by Polly Castor

Muddy

Are you stuck
in a muddled world
with your shoes
all caked and gooey,
squishy and heavy?
Are you tempted to jump in
and slosh about in it?
Are you beleaguered
with the mud of politics,
the mud of war,
the mire of fake news,
the mess of society,
or are you slogging through
mucky relationships?
Are you just barely
muddling forward?
Maybe you are muddled
with unhappiness,
or struggling with
a supposed muddled mind.

Wash off all that mud!
It is not you (or them)!
Scrape it from your shoes.
Don’t be a stick-in-the-mud,
as they say, and hopefully,
you are neither mudslinging
nor wallowing in it,
like a hog in heaven.

Mud season
doesn’t just make a mess,
but splashing spring settles
lusciously into sprouting,
in that soft, fertile ground,
which fosters new growth.
Sow fresh seeds into it,
for right in that
mucky mess and mire
is propagated
the joyous
germination
of new life.

I love this! Love All Great Analogies!

Hey! WE are created in God’s likeness,” (Gen 1.) …in “correlation, similarity, kindship” (Webster)
Not clay, dust, dirt, a mess! These have NOthing to do with God’s “likeness!”

    Whew!

    (Great poem, as usual, Polly.)
