Two Plein Air Paintings of Monhegan in Pastel

Here are two of the four plein air paintings I completed while on Monhegan. (I’ll share the other two next week.) All four paintings are 9″x12″ and done in pastel.
Squeaker Cove, above, I painted last year from a different vantage point. This time I was perched higher above it. I think it is my favorite place on the island.

One of my new discoveries on the island this time were the Rowan trees with their clumps of bright orange berries. This is the first time I’ve painted one (see below), but it won’t be the last!
