Jesus did the work
of resurrection
to teach us
our own indestructibility.
Once again, he is
an example for us.
His whole earthly walk
was a succession
of crescendoing
resurrection experiences–
healing and overcoming,
turning to God
instead of self or error–
culminating in raising Lazarus,
and then himself.
He showed us that resurrection
isn’t so much about bodies
as it is about
spiritualizing thought–
relinquishing material belief
in favor of spiritual understanding.
Life– not death– delivers
his resurrection and ours,
which goes beyond
a mere proof that we
are not vulnerable to mortality
or doomed for destruction.
We do not have to wait to resurrect!
Resurrection shows us how to live.
It requires defying materialism–
to become more alive,
to engage with and express
Godlike qualities,
and to turn, turn, turn Godward
in every dead-end moment
of frustration or fear,
and to refocus
on a higher, bigger reality.
In proportion as we relinquish
mortal-mindedness in favor of
spiritual-mindedness
we too roll away the stone
from our stubborn, limited self,
and are freed to be
who God made us to be.
We find that we too
are not entombed in matter!
We too can infinitely,
selflessly exhibit
Life and Love.
What a reason to celebrate!
What a reason to rejoice!

Wonderful poem! But I see the Star of Bethlehem, depicted much like a medieval artist would paint a comet. Perhaps I’m picking up on the eternal thread.

I see something else when I became still in thought – the texture of the (stone) object reveals what looks like peaceful worldly continents or perhaps a Holy city outline with streets as seen from high above.
