Our Church’s New Little Free Library

Our Church's Little Free Library

Our church has a new little free library out front, where we will make free books and periodicals available to the community. One of our members had the idea, another built it.

The design and execution went way beyond our hopes. It is such a cute replica of our classic building. Our member made the light fixture, the moulding, the copula and railing on a 3-D printer at our library. Additionally it has solar panels so the light and window lights up at night!

We have an active main street location with a lot of passers by. We hope folks make use of it these offerings within; so far it is drawing lots of comments!

I’m so grateful to be in a democratically run church, where expressing love to the community is important, and where members both have great ideas and take initiative to execute them so well.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves. Sweet! Beautifully made! Our church, 7th Church of CS in Kansas City, purchased one from the Little Library company and have been using it as a distribution box for Science and Healths, Bibles, biographies, children’s books, pamphlets, etc. from our used book closet (we have a lot!!). It’s been very successful! We also have a distribution box for periodicals and Monitors.

Charming little powerhouse of a library – I love seeing the CS Monitor there, a balanced voice of sanity in these turbulent storms. I’ve heard of other branch churches setting up
Little Libraries on property, including 8th Church St Louis, where many thousands of walkers, runners and bikers pass by, on the west side of lovely Forest Park! Forest Park is geographically larger than Central Park and enjoyed by a diverse city and suburban population. I love your solar lighting! Best of old and new in your Library! Best wishes and joyous Independence Day to you all!

What kind of response have you had to your library? Are you only sharing CS materials?

People love it. Yes, we call it our little Reading Room- well located!- and only put CS literature in there. The free Bible’s go pretty fast, but so do children’s stories. Monitor not so much, which is unfortunate. Six Science and Healths went in one year.
