Marriage is Permaculture (New Poem by Polly Castor)

Marriage is Permaculture, poem by Polly Castor

Marriage is Permaculture

Marriage is like permaculture
full of pragmatic optimism
innovative solutions,
cultivated growth,
and tender motives.
Both are exercises
in sustainability.
Both embody
hope for the world.
Empowered, grounded,
taking action towards cherishing,
interested in transformation,
preservation, mindfulness,
and an open, positive consciousness.
A strategy of cheerfully
mitigating and moderating,
doing the best you can
with what is available,
becoming social pollinators too,
with no resources in the wrong place,
while understanding too that
an excess is merely a resource.
Both leverage the realization
that any solution you need
is a present possibility
if you only creatively seek it.
Both are actionable desires
for charity with one another
and the environment.
Both are about building healthy,
loving, strong communities,
about being committed
to each other and your
collective, shared destiny–
adopting an arrangement of
natural flourishing, which is
secure, trusting, and principled–
a regenerative, and resilient life.
Carefully designed and maintained
permanent culture,
which is deliberately aware,
ethical, whole-systems thinking
that develops and upholds joy
that is no longer only about yourself.
A philosophy that is practically applied
daily, seasonally, and enduringly,
fully considering each other, and both
short and long term ramifications<
of every behavior, with an effort <
to treasure all that is good in life
and to maximize it, while doing no harm.
Yes, mariage is permaculture.
Take care, be solicitous and kind,
and your future together is marvelous.

It was a very joyous occasion and many long time friends from our shared community were present. We had a wonderful time catching up with all the family news x
