Books We Got and Gave for Christmas

Books We Got for Christmas 2020

I hope you had a great day yesterday!

I’ve always been pretty clear that I think books make great gifts–either that or give me travel or art materials!

In the book department, I made out really well this year. I’m so grateful! The first ones shown below are what I received from various sources. Then are shown a few James got, and the lowest seven are ones we gifted to our children this year.

All were well received and we look forward to reading them!

Did you receive any books you are excited about? Which ones?

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves. Upon your recommendation, I investigated “Naturalist: Edward Wilson” with the thought of giving it to my 11 year-old-grand-daughter. I was somewhat intrigued by it myself, so ordered it with the idea that I would read it first, and then give it to her for her birthday in June. After reading a few pages, I was so in love with it and knew she would be too that I gave it to her for Christmas. I also gave her “What Cats Want: Yuki Hattori” I told her parents it was really hard to give it up because I’d only read to page 66. This morning her Dad said I could borrow back the Naturalist for a few days, because she had a hard time choosing, but stayed up half the night reading about the cats.
I love many of the books you recommend, and sometimes your book review tells me all I need to know about a book – “interesting, but I don’t need to read the whole book.” I also forward your recommendations to my sister when I think she’ll be interested. You might like to know I bought “Sweetness at the bottom of the pie” and loved it, then sent it to my former husband’s wife because she is a chemical engineer. I understand my ex-husband read it and loved it too!
Lots of love from one of your many fans!

I look forward to your reviews of the new books! Especially “The Midnight Library” as that’s on my list.
I agree with Barbara that sometimes your reviews are all I need to know about a book but other times I dive straight in, to enjoy a book that sounds interesting. So I’ve read several you recommended this year. I enjoy historical novels and one that taught me some History was “A long petal of the sea”, a most interesting tale.
    Keep up the good work!
