Differences Don’t Have to Divide

Throw black paint into the air.
Does it color the air?  No!
The air remains pure, untouched.
Neither do we need to experience
bad effects or feel contaminated
by the presence of what is unlike us.
The air doesn’t fear the paint,
and the paint isn’t frustrated it
didn’t overtake the air.
Each is minding its own business,
being true to themselves.

The right hand and left hand
are both helpful and appreciated.
They are opposite and opposed,
but both are better together
than either one on its own,
like jelly and peanut butter.
Try opening a jar one handed.
It is not effective.
Each side has a role,
and neither cares about
having the upper hand,
just focusing on getting the job done,
the more harmoniously the better.
