Fake News (pastel) by Polly Castor

Denial

The rain pours down,
crying, weeping, sobbing
for the state of our nation.
Are we just dust under the bed?
Are we no better than
agencies of division, enlisted
as unauthorized pawns,
trodden and faceless?
Do we spitefully or tacitly
agree to pollute our earth?
Our blinders are on as we
binge-watch dreams and movies,
pretending that self condemnation
is appropriate and suits us,
like some gorgeous tuxedo,
ball gown, or trip to the carnival.
We listen to lies
and shrug them off,
so inured to fake news
that we just roll over,
and punch some more
decoy buttons on our devices,
playing games, killing
ourselves with amusement
while continents burn,
whole swaths of rainforest
are cut down and plundered,
poison gets sprayed on our wheat,
and we look the other way,
reading memes and producing trash,
hibernating through it all,
torpid, listless, and indolent until
some hypothetically better season,
lathered up in putrid denial,
myopic, we wallow
in a stupor of despair,
and engulfed to almost drowning
in the foreseeable devastation
of arrogant expediency.

Instead of merely anesthetizing
our disenfranchised selves,
there is a right way to deny
evil, error, temporality:
decapitate it for certain
with the double-edged sword
of divine Truth. We can rally
around Truth’s supremacy,
it’s complete, tenacious obduracy
that is more than a match for
cowardice and impotency
deceit and corruption
greed and apathy
egotism and manipulation
narcissism and bigotry
ineptitude and fear
inequality and falsehood.
Full of integrity, innocence,
and profound, infinite goodness,
divine Truth wins every time,
flushing out everything
unlike its joyous, benevolent self.

Crave and claim
the efficacy of Truth
omnipotent, victorious, and assured.
Multiply that forward confidently.
We are desperately in need
of a pivot point here.
Please join in a ripple effect.
Standing aghast is not working.
Putting our heads in our hands
is not working.
Let’s stop denying
that there is a solution.
Let’s own that there is one,
and that it depends on each of us
realizing with clarity
that it revolves around
the one thing we have in common
that lasts forever.
The Truth that set the planets
in their orbit. The Truth that
created you, loves you,
brought you here,
and will be with you ever after.
The Truth that sets us free.
It is promised
that we shall know that.
It is imperative we do that now.
Don’t be skeptical about it.
Don’t be cynical about it.
Deny instead
all disaster and degradation,
while championing Truth
as our savior.
Get to know
eternal Truth intimately
as your best friend,
deepest ally,
and strongest advocate,
for it is emphatically needed
in each present moment.
Bring it to bear immediately
to rescue us,
and to guide, guard,
and govern us,
always.

    You wrote
    My heart
    hears
    We DO know
    What we are!
No wonder evil seems so putrid.
    We will rise! with
    Love’s incentives
