God’s Approval (New Poem by Polly Castor)

God's Approval poem by Polly Castor

God’s Approval

We need to
take in infinite love
with grace;
receive it openly
and gratefully,
letting its benediction
settle on us like
warming rays,
basking in it,
soaking it in,
and resting there.
God loves us urgently,
persistently, imperatively,
unequivocally, completely,
and most remarkably–
oh how to wrap
our sad little
self concept
of ourselves
around this
startling fact–
God loves us unconditionally.

Take that in.
Breathe it deep
into your soul.
God assures us
we are already
approved.
We are God’s
very own best idea.
That’s true before,
right now, and always.
God is totally conscious
of us as being exactly
as we were created to be.
God authorized us, made us.
We are perpetually
the object of God’s
present moment delight.
We are our Father/Mother’s
immediate pride and joy.
We are not in any way amiss,
or some straying disappointment.
We can never get away
from God’s all-consuming
tender approbation.

Know you are
already approved.
You are not struggling,
desperately trying,
or ever failing,
to reach the mark.
Know you are
already programmed
by the only almighty
to be slam dunking it,
a hole in one,
a bullseye, a homerun.
You are exactly
as God made you to be.
Each minute you can do
with excellence
what God created you to do.

The oxygen you breathe in
is God’s ongoing approval.
Breathe out and expel
any contrary nonsense.
Anything other than
ever present God is
non-existent foolishness.
So get on with flourishing
in the sunshine
of unmitigated
divine acceptance.
Collect it in your cells,
tasting it, savoring it,
mulling it over, incorporating it.
Use it to photosynthesize
unto good works.
Joy is reflected in joy,
reverberating on and on
in an endless loop
of radiantly mutual
inseparable
devotion.

Glorious! A feeling of not measuring up is the source of so much discord. Thank you, thank you!
