Aladdin (Movie Review)

Aladdin (Movie Review)

I may be easily amused, but I enjoyed seeing Aladdin at the free movies at Edmond Town Hall here in Newtown last night. This is a remake from the animated version, this time using real actors mixed with the latest technology. Will Smith made a thoroughly delightful genie, and both Aladdin and the princess (Naomi Scott) were refreshing new faces to me that did wonderful performances.

This is a cautionary tale about being too grabby for power, and the virtues of honesty, humility, loyalty, and kindness. There are some great one liners, like, “When you have nothing, act like you own the place.” There are also plenty of flashy musical scenes where there is almost too much to see, as your eye flits so fast around the screen.

If you haven’t seen this one, you might enjoy it too. We went in with low expectations, and thought it was fun. I give it four stars.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
