Euphonium (New Abstract Conceptualist Painting in Pastel)

Euphonium (New Abstract Conceptualist Painting in Pastel)

Euphonious (abstract conceptual paining in pastel) by Polly Castor

This is my first pastel painting on the new surface called Evolon, which is almost more an archival polyester and cotton fabric, than a paper. With it I could work in pastels wet- in-wet, which was a thrill.

The tenor pitch of the euphonium has a beautifully pleasing, melodious sound. This painting is part of my “sound” series, and sources from me playing baritone in the marching band, enjoying the rich tones that stream out from deep within the bell of the horn.

You can buy the original painting here on my art site, or buy prints and merchandise of it here.

See the entire 22″x30″ pastel painting above, with close up details below.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
