Whole30 for 120 Days (Four Month Update)

For those of you new to the blog, I made a New Year’s resolution this year to eat “Whole30” for 180 days. You can read about the whys and wherefores of that resolution here.) So as of today, I’ve done it 120 days and counting. That means I’ve had no alcohol, caffeine, sugar, grains, legumes, dairy (other than eggs), soy, or bad fats in the last 4 months. I’m not stepping on the scale either, so it is not about weight, but rather food freedom.

And I can tell you that I feel great. The only cravings I have are for real food. This project takes work, time, discipline, and planning, but it is worth it. After July 1, when I meet my goal, I don’t plan on changing much, only allowing myself a bit of honey or maple syrup, some cheese, and some non gluten grains like oats for baking or millet in crackers. My goal is to remain 90% still off sugar and grains after this is over, and I’m feeling confident I can do it, with a few treats every once in a while that are deemed “worth it.”

Meanwhile, I’ve been strict and getting used to making vegetables and fish interesting in countless ways. You can see some of what we’ve been eating in the photos on this post, often served on pottery that I made myself. You can see I am not suffering! This is a delicious project, as well as a healthy and ethical one.

Maybe more important than anything else about this, I have showed up for myself, and am honoring my commitment to my resolution in a way that is very supportive of my integrity going forward. This alone is a gift I’m not taking for granted.

To see some Whole30 compliant recipes earlier on this blog, check out this older post here. Also, all the recipes I have posted in the last four months are compliant as well. Give some of these a try!

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves. Wow! You go, girl! I have to figure out how to do this or something similar. Discipline. That’s the key. I’m almost ready.
