Here are my photos of artwork and coursework either in the process of being made, or being presented at Creative Arts Camp. There were classes this year in painting, songwriting, round singing, wire sculpture, mime, movement, and photography. The people that come to camp often take classes outside their comfort zone, so it becomes a time of courageous discovery; the stretching and growth and inspiration that goes on is fun to be around. It is a very safe space to try something new or improve on an ongoing passion.
I took painting in the mornings and round singing in the afternoon. Above is the only painting I did in class this year at camp; it is done with many glazed layers of acrylics, which gives it a luminous quality. It portrays the view of the Mississippi from the chapel at Principia College. I enjoyed most our round singing class, which was sometimes held in swimsuits in the water… It is the first singing class I have ever taken, and it was lots of fun.
