New Poem: Be Vulnerable

New Poem: Be Vulnerable

Polly Castor poetry, be vulnerable

Be Vulnerable

You are not responsible
for getting other people
to accept
their responsibility,
and I do not need to defend myself
no matter
what lie or offense or misunderstanding
is perpetrated against me

We need to submit to one another
as mutually blameless and unblamed
long-suffering in love
not seeking justification
and with no apologies necessary

Somehow
all are originally innocent
not the sinners to the core
that we seem to be
and to loose those false fetters
we’re just in need of flinging them off
by
turning, turning, turning
perpetually turning
as a spinning ballerina
snaps her head to keep her focus
so she won’t get dizzy or topple over
we can be unthwarted and without frustration
with vast dedication, concentration and self-immolation

But we’ll need to accept others
as already justified on some essential level
by the Creator of the universe.
We must expect pure motives
while expressing
flexibility, patience,
benevolence, and contrition
instead of preconceptions
based on prior misery
and previous undissolved fears

Being humble enough
to not take our eyes off
of God as the focal point,
whirling
with our center still and fulcrum firm
with our gaze fixed
on that point of perfection
regularly, consistently,
perceiving it all around
even when it is masked
by what looks like an intermediate blur
of attack or misrepresentation,
ego or belligerence
insecurity or apathy…

We can see Truth only
with our heart and our intention
but not with our eyes;
what is needed is
steadfast alertness
to unfailing good
which is not the same
as being on guard
against bad

Let the angels tell them
what they need to know.
Trust God’s steady hand and correcting rod
for thankfully that is not our job:
we are to be completely occupied
remaining balanced and centered
on our rotating axis
dancing beautifully our own destiny
faithfully acknowledging
infinite good everywhere
because
nothing from nowhere
can knock any of us down.
