My husband has built a cold frame just out of our front door. He’s starting his seeds in it and growing early season arugula in there as well. We are hoping to extend our growing season with this. He has also built a couple future raised beds for vegetables in front of the cold frame, which will be filled with organic compost later this week.

This project has been a bit slower coming on than we thought… he dug the hole for the cold frame around Halloween, when we were teased by trick-or-treaters that he was digging a grave! Anyway, it wasn’t done in time for us to grow lettuce in March or April this year, but we’ll be experimenting with it in the late fall and early next spring…
