Our Oldest Lands a Great Job

We are very proud of our older daughter who has just accepted a wonderful job offer as a Fiscal and Policy Analyst at the California Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO).

Interested in changing the public conversation to less polarized and more productive, Virginia feels that the way to do this is with in-depth analysis and clear communication of the facts. In this position, where she’ll visit programs throughout the state, analyze them, and present her findings to the California State Legislature, she’ll have a chance to do just that. The well-respected work of this non-partisan office influences not only the state legislature, but the national political scene as well –on both sides of the aisle.

This is an exciting opportunity and it is especially nice to have this plum job already in hand before she graduates with her Master’s degree in June.

Our daughter has handled her resume-building and scholastic excellence so admirably she is well prepared to launch her career in this remarkable way. She handled the interview process and contract negotiations with aplomb. She was flown out for an all-day interview, so has met the key players she’ll be working with.

She loved the food while she was there (see photos below), and is looking forward to getting involved both with the lively local swing dance scene as well as a new church network in Sacramento.

Since she starts at the beginning of September, I will be helping her move across the country this summer.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory.
