Two Cookbooks I’ve Been Enjoying Lately

Two Cookbook Recommendations

I’ve been enjoying these two cookbooks lately and have put them on my Christmas wish list.

The cookbook above was recommended wholeheartedly by Stanley Tucci, so I checked it out from the library.  It is written by a young man who climbed as a chef to some prominence in the London restaurant scene, only to realize he was more interested in produce than in the restaurant business. He then bought a farm away from the city, started growing his own food, and was much happier. This cookbook is the result of what he is making from his own land. The Tomato Spinach Anchovy Gratin I blogged earlier in the fall came from here. The photography in The Farm Table is beautiful and the recipes are very fresh takes on usual fare. There is meat here, as well as vegetables and dessert.

The cookbook below is by a vegetarian who I have followed for a long time. I also already have a couple of her other cookbooks. This is her best one yet, which I also checked out from the library. The corn risotto I blogged earlier this fall came from here. There are several sections you usually don’t see in cookbooks, including pages of many ideas for any vegetable ingredient you have. I find that very useful. If you would like to expand your vegetarian option, I suggest getting One Pot, One Pan, One Planet. It will also show you how to best eat for the survival of the planet, with is important!

Maybe you too will  want to put these on your wish list, or get them as gifts for someone special?
