Sorcery of Thorns (Book Review)

Well this was a fun romp among sorcerers, demons, necromancers, and books that are alive. The fantasy genre is very popular, and I read a bit of it to stay current. Also, it is refreshing when good and evil battle it out in the open. And typically, as in this case here, good wins out, and evil comes crashing down, while not all that you might think of as evil, actually really is.

This book came highly recommended, so I put it on my list, and it was a good diversion at this time. The fact that it was so clearly not real, helped it be enjoyable. Pluck, integrity, and love, however, are very real, and always welcome in good storytelling. I loved the creativity expressed in the “grimoires,” the palpitating, powerful books that were chained to the shelves.

The writing here was inventive while thoroughly uncontrived, so I’ve put this author on my list to maybe read again, when my atypical mood for this genre surfaces again.

You might enjoy this courageous and victorious struggle against dark forces in another world,  or you might know a young person who would enjoy it. I give it 4 stars; its only fault really being that I had to suspend my disbelief so much to get into it to begin with. Still, Sorcery of Thorns has more merit that a lot in this genre.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
