We rode on camels in the Sahara desert! If you want to see a short video clip of me riding a camel, click here.
The leggy camel shadows, together with the cadence of the ride, and the changing colors of the sand depending on how the light hit it, was the stuff memories are made of. We stopped to bask in the sunset, which a couple of the women found so powerful they were overcome with emotion, and got long hugs from me.
We arrived at our fancy glamping accommodations in the desert, surprised my how elaborate and cozy they were, with heaters on the walls, and bathrooms in suite. We were fed soup and eggplant and fruit before gathering around the campfire to listen to locals sing and drum, then joined in with singing and drumming ourselves. All this was by the light of a gorgeous full moon, which was so bright, we did not get to see the milky way. Then we got up the next morning to witness the sunrise, before departing.
So grateful to have had this experience!
