Hiking down into Canyon Gorropu in Sardinia

This was a strenuous trail down into the deepest canyon in Europe.

Sometimes we were scrambling on all fours, sometimes sliding on loose gravel, sometimes navigating shifting scree, sometimes squeezing through tight spaces. I wished for my hiking boots, but managed the 5 miles with 3000 feet of elevation change. I’m so grateful to have been able to do this!

It was a remarkable day with incredible visas and magnificent old live oak trees, filled with companionable joy!

That second to last photo? We climbed from the top to the valley floor!

From the top to the valley floor. Egads!

Never so glad to see a rental car! (Last car in the lot means we were the slowest.)
