My Sketchbook Pages from Turkey

I did this half of a full sketchbook in Turkey, and the other half of it I did in Sardinia.

Above on the right hand side, you can see maps of Istanbul and our boat ride on the Bosphorus. Then we flew to Bodrum, and the larger map above shows where we went on the southeastern coast of Turkey, dipping a bit into Greece.

Below you can see first my collage of trip bits, and then sketches, paintings and collages from our trip that were done in the afternoons on the boat while we were crossing the Aegean or the Mediterranean.  Most are of swimming spots, because the water seemed to me a main feature, but also there is Hagia Sophia, our boat, and the tombs above the green river in Kaunos.

I highly recommend keeping a sketchbook or travel journal while traveling. It helps me process and experience the time more deeply.

This is done in mixed media in a 9″x12″ Winsor & Newton #300 watercolor journal. The paper is heavy and stand up to whatever you do to it.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
