It is a huge honor to be juried into the IAPS Pastel World show, which is the top international show for pastel artists.
My painting, Burning Bush, was chosen to be there in Albuquerque last weekend, hanging with pastel greats from all around the globe.
I wish I could have been there in person too, but I’m grateful to those who sent photos!
Here is the blurb hanging next to the painting: “Burning Bush is an invasive species in the northeast, which was originally planted in suburbs for its vibrant fall foliage. Birds have carried these seeds into the more forested areas where I hike, and now whole forest floors here are covered with it. The leaves in shaded woodland areas turn a wide range of ever-changing, complimentary colors, which fascinate me. When seeing it, I also ponder the Bible story where God spoke to Moses out of a burning bush, so this painting is about how the Burning Bush is speaking to me, and hopefully you.”
Below you can see the both what it looks like in situ and the page of the program that my painting is on.
I’m so grateful to be included in this show and for an increasing openness on the part of the jurors to include abstract art. This elite show has far less than 10% abstraction, so I was included in a very rarified group!
