Here I tried my new walnut ink and I have to say, I love it. While I cogitate on new pastel directions, I’m having fun mixing media in new ways. This piece includes watercolor (including shimmery and graphite ones, with watercolor crayon), with opaque gouache, and transparent walnut ink.
Each year starts with new possibilities, and this piece highlights that, painted in new ways, with some new toys. Done on fabulous A3 Seawhite paper my sister gave me for Christmas, it is 14.5″ x 16.5,” an odd size that stems from being European, and figured in centimeters. I’m loving this paper’s beefiness and absorbency; it is smooth in texture, taking wet media well with no need for stretching, and look forward to using it again.
The advantage of these materials is that not only are they fun and complimentary, but especially at this size, originals can be sold at a reasonable price point. This image makes a great phone case too!
