After giving my powerpoint last January on zoom/YouTube to the Pastel Society of Maine, I’m delighted to be teaching a 3 day workshop for their members (and other non-members like you?) this September in Maine. This will be my first in person workshop since the pandemic.
The dates are Friday, September 23 – Sunday September 25.
You can get all the details including prices and lodging info here.
You can check out my workshop page for testimonials and photos from people who have taken my workshops.
In Adventures in Abstraction for the medium of pastel, I’ll cover the essential elements of effective design, and types of abstraction in the full range from representational to non-objective art. There will be targeted exercises that teach students to understand good abstract art, and to make their own progress in creating them.
As a workshop leader, I encourage and inspire others with generous energy and expertise. Participants say that my teaching jumpstarts their whole art practice, regardless of what style they specialize in.
Students get revitalized as they receive positive feedback and practical information on what makes a good painting. Exercises will fuel discussion, building over the course of the workshop to a fresh and different place from where the students began.
I’m eager to share my love of abstract painting in this exercise driven workshop, and to reinforce the elements essential to effective design. With equal parts lecture, production and discussion, students will work hard and have fun doing it, and emerge motivated and empowered.
If this sounds good to you, I hope you’ll sign up and come! I’m happy to answer any questions here.
