Life is a Collage
Life is a collage
of bits and pieces,
some large and dominating,
others innocuous spattered washes
showing through to layers underneath.
Some sections are dark
with random or deliberate
pops of light,
while others are clear
with slashes of intensity.
Drippy rivulets offset dry brush marks,
subtlety mocks the shock of contrast,
while those cheery dots
and that jazzy pattern
brighten it all up.
What tugs you onward and what recedes?
Are the colors warm or cool?
Is there a strong focal point,
breathing space versus density of action,
or compliments causing it to vibrate?
Your scraps define you,
so take care to use
only the ones you like,
but more it is
how you put them together.
How do they synthesize and combine?
What do you bring forward and highlight
and what do you cover up as a substrate?
Are there varying sizes of elements?
Do you resonate with and utilize
circular shapes or straight lines?
What is the overall feeling you exude?
What does the composition
that is your life
add up to
and convey?
