It didn’t start out that way in the early days, but after 13 years of blogging everyday, this site has become colossal, which translates as way too expensive. Since it got so enormous, it is now crowd funded, to keep our positive little corner of the internet going as an ad-free oasis.

So we’ve agreed that I’ll request donations twice a year, in May and the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

Just a few days ago, this site got hacked for the first time. Fortunately we were able to sort it out–without you even noticing!– but there was a nervous 24 hours when it was entirely in someone else’s hands. So now on top of our huge hosting expenses, we apparently need to add on the expense of more fire-wall security measures.

Some of you have set up monthly donations, or donate sporadically when it is good for you. Thank you all for that.
