Birdsong at Daybreak (pastel) by Polly Castor

As the weather gets warmer, I’ve been walking earlier, which has the advantage I can listen to the riotous birdsong that happens here in May.

The newest painting in my sound series, this painting depicts that uproar of birdsong at that moment of weak early light. It is 22″x30″ and done in pastel. See the entire painting above and lots of close up details of it below.

Purchase the original painting here.

Prints and merchandise of this image are available here.

Can you hear them all calling out, clear and shrill, repeating their individual refrain, each a part of an unconducted orchestra?

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
