Regarding the Democratic National Convention

Regarding the Democratic National Convention

Regarding the DNC 2020

To quote one of you dear blog readers commenting on this blog last spring during the primary, “When the leadership is morally vile, intellectually vacuous, and temperamentally narcissistic, one must speak out.” That is what I am doing again here. I won’t continuously bang you over the head with this kind of content, but I also don’t want to idly stand by and watch our country go down, while being complicit by remaining silent.

I found much reason to hope watching the recent Democratic National Convention. I saw intelligence, empathy, compassion, commitment to equality and justice, science and the environment, and ending gun violence, along with real fiscal responsibility that stops lining the pockets of billionaires. I saw people dedicated to working for everyone instead of only looking out themselves and their friends. I saw people clued into reality, desirous of ending this pandemic, re-stabilizing the economy, and ending racism. I saw humanitarians and statesmen/women. I saw a coming together and a refreshing moral fiber.

Thankfully, we are voting in November for a positive, shared vision, and not only voting against fascism, sexism, racism, bigotry, narcissism, cronyism, divisiveness, fear mongering, cynicism, and egregious incompetence. This feels so encouraging and motivating.

You may want to check it out for yourself if you missed it; here are some of the speeches:

Michelle Obama

Gabby Gifford (for Gun Control)

Mike Bloomberg

Elizabeth Warren

Bernie Sanders

California Governor (on Climate Change)

Hillary Clinton

Barack Obama

Kamala Harris

Joe Biden

If you live in the US, please plan to vote, and vote early. And everyone please pray for intelligence and devotion to high ideals to win the day. Thank you.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves. I could not agree with you more, Polly!
The DNC has been a fresh breeze in a seemingly
very bad mental atmosphere that is so clearly not that of the divine Consciousness, God! The mortal illusion of anything apart from God, Good, is breaking up! Hooray!

    Thank you.

I too want this nightmare over. I was struck by the high quality of Convention speeches. Plenty of good editing. Fast pace.
    Minimal ” convention ” language.

Thank you for this post. Watching the convention all 4 nights this week gave me a sense of hope again. I’d forgotten what it could feel like after 4 years of being beaten down by the current administration.

Thank you for the post Polly. I look forward to a president who has the moral backbone we so desperately need! I do not understand how Christians (especially CS’s!) can back the current president. I wonder what Jesus and MBEddy would have said…

In the last few months I have felt a sense of more “feminine qualities” expressed by both men and women. Compassion, caring for others, a fresh look at the racial issues. I’m doing more to support those considered less fortunate than myself, and doing it with love, not a sense of guilt. I love your posts!
