I had an awesome homeschool High School Abstract Art Class, which ran on Mondays from February through yesterday. There were five wonderful teens in the class. Two were seniors, and three are students I hope to have again.
We covered line, shape, texture, carving their own stamps, printing, transparency & opacity, high contrast vs. low contrast, design motifs, change in density, focal points, getting the eye to move, and giving the eye space to rest, among many other variables like color, size, and direction of elements. They now understand some of the range of options one works with when creating an abstract work of art– that it is not only fun, but a thought provoking process.
In this post you can see lots of photos of them at work. Then you can see photos of them and their artwork at our art opening last Saturday evening, which was very well received. Everyone did a great job. They were a delight and I will miss them!
