The gardens here locally at Hollandia nursery are amazing. I have always wanted to paint them. Here I was particularly interested in the amaranth, whose shape was so distinctive and different from all the other flowers. I was also intrigued by the way the flowers were banked like strata in rocks, each with their variegated hue and texture.
See the entire 20″x26″ new pastel work above, and look below for some close up details. Click here for prints or merchandise with this artwork on it (pouches, tote bags, cards, or phone cases anyone?) and of course the original is available for sale as well. Contact me if interested.
