Consider two plus two equals four
In the farthest reaches of the universe
In every language, for every race and species
For rich, poor, educated or not
It is the same.
An unavoidable fact
Like an invisible spiritual law
No one fights wars over it, sharing it freely
Everyone agrees about it, has it, and finds it useful
No one dominates it
Indeed, everything hangs on it
and if it could be abolished, everything would collapse
How could we be without it?
It is that important
Ever accessible while unseen
Unavoidable and staunchly powerful
Like God
the supreme cause of existence.
Irrefutable but non-material
Perpetual presence
supporting without bias:
impartial, impersonal, imperative
Principle.

Polly
like a true teacher your poem added understanding to a elementary math staple
easily grasped, rhythmically spoken and remembered
great piece, Polly!
