Movie Review: Rango

Rango

This new film by Nickelodeon was refreshing in several ways. I liked how it is was mostly animated with real photography mixed in. I liked the fact that they intentionally used good vocabulary, making it more witty and intelligent, while still understandable in context. All the creatures were fascinatingly depicted, the artwork excellently done. Johnny Depp’s voice has an effortless range and was perfect for the main character. The theme, “Who controls the water controls everything,” is so true and timely, it was good to see this begin to be addressed in popular culture. (Click here to see my blog post of water facts to realize the pressing need… This is going to be a huge issue for the next generation who is the target audience for this film…) And my favorite line, “You can’t walk out of your own story,” is brilliant and fascinating to ponder. I give this wild west drought film four stars.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
