Book Review: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

On the drive to and from the wedding we listened to this classic book by Mark Twain, which I had never read. I really enjoyed it and found it uproariously funny. I was glad I was listening to it rather than reading it since the accents are so much more fun and easy to deal with this way. There are “considerable rapscallions” in this story! The story keeps you always interested and moves right along between one episode and the next. Huck is endearing and so is the “Negro,” Jim. There also is a lot of insight into human nature here if you want to take it on that level, but if you don’t, there is plenty else to entertain you. But I “dassn’t” say too much, only that if you’re like me and have never taken this story in before, treat yourself to it from your library! The author thought it was his crowning achievement and I’m not surprised. Wonderfully done! (Five stars… duh!)

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
