Our son made this cool clock in his first engineering class at Swarthmore last semester. It was for a half credit pass/fail class and other kids chose to do things like write papers, but our son maximized the opportunity of being surrounded by amazing resources, and created this clock as his project.
It took him 90 hours to do this, first designing it in CADD and then printing it on a 3D printer. The result is both lovely and functional. At the bottom you can see a short video of the clock running and another of the 3D printer in the process of making the gears. Well done!
