I’m finally back at painting in pastel.
The painting above, For Ukraine is done in their national colors on wonderful new paper a blog reader gave me (thank you again Sara). If you want to buy it, I’ll donate the proceeds to the International Rescue Committee to help Ukrainian refugees. The painting is 19″x25″ and done in pastel on archival, colorfast, Canson Mi-Teintes paper. Purchase this fundraiser painting here. Doing so would be a great way for us together to be helpful to them.
I’ve had a hiatus from painting in pastel for a couple months, and the non-objective painting below was me getting back to it, hence the title, Back in the Game. I painted it on top of this painting I did in January , which was one I didn’t like very much. Painting over something that already has fulled up a lot of the tooth of the paper is a challenge, but I enjoyed attacking it with assertive marks.
Now my pastels are clean and I feel fully warmed up; what should I paint next?
