The Only Place God Is

Are you casting about,
dissatisfied or yearning,
flinging your gaze
toward the future
or back into the past,
or are are you
kicking your feet out,
swinging like a toddler,
oscillating between the two
like a pendulum?
Or hopefully, alternatively,
are you riveted– pinning
your complete sense
of convergence
simply on this one and only
tiny moment? It’s colossal.
Now is
infinitely ever-present
like a sphere
expanding indefinitely
in every direction.
It includes all that really is.
(Everything else only ever
was or might be)
The Eternal Now is
the only place
God is
and the only place
our relationship
with God is.
It is
the only place
we can take action.
It is
the only place
we can make progress.
It is
the only place
God can work.
The future and the past
are ephemeral dreams
of regret or nostalgia,
concern or aspiration.
Only the present can
be influenced.
Only the present holds
boundless potential
for all good.
The present is
the gift of being
unified with
the only One.
Rejoice with me,
remaining fixed
in the divinity
of this now,
embracing all affinity
for the best possible
experience of life.

The senses are, of course, liars.
    Transcending these false prophets,
I–sometimes–avoid or even erase their influence.
    Takes grit and determination, though,
    aggressive as they sometimes are.

And what a privilege to be learning
    how to do this!
