This is the first painting to come out of our travel to Morocco last December.
This painting depicts traveling down out of the Atlas Mountains onto the flat plain that holds Marrakesh. The mountains there are rather beige, with mauve tints, while the colorful culture contrasts strikingly with the undulating base layer of the sand colored rock. This piece seeks to unify that impression of the journey: on the one hand it is filled with excitement and allure, and on the other, the arid prevalence of ancient soil and rock.
