This is a new (hopefully only very occasional) series I’ve decided to start on this blog to avoid ignoring the crying need around me, while also keeping my usual content, as well as my end of the month Bits and Clips, more positive. I hope posts such as this one help myself and you be part of the solution, which is a different, but very valid, form of amplifying good.
Keeping our heads out of the sand and rising to the occasion is good, while standing by and feeling impotent is not. The challenges? Some are downright heinous, but need thinkers like you and me to do what we can. Right now, there is a fire raging that needs to be put out. I share these things here, not for collective hand wringing, but to motivate prayer and sustained, meaningful action.
In my day job, I get paid to pray. In that role, it helps to know what the imposition is, in order to address it specifically with prayer. That’s what I’m doing here. Don’t walk away from this post thinking there is nothing you can do. We can all pray, love, and be led into a useful response.
Emphatically, please note, this is not about politics. These concerns go way beyond that, although I strongly disagree with how my nation has gone rogue, reversing any suggestion we are created equal, or have a moral responsibility for others. Contrariwise, I champion sustainability, kindness, peacemaking, protecting nature, justice, integrity, clean water and air, caring, and lending a helping hand to those in need.
And also note, these issues are listed and shown here in no particular order and are just the tip of the iceberg. There is no possible way to cover it all in one post, so this is nowhere near the complete picture. It is merely an important starting place.
