hope believes
catches in a crack
hunkers down
resolute
sends root searching deep
until seek becomes find

parched persistence survives

stubborn stem reaches sunward
through soul split by dry despair
undaunted by drought

when frailer blossoms fade
this tender bud flowers
watered by celestial streams

this
seed
will
grow
