After the workshop was done, I stayed with a friend in Portland, for an evening and a morning, before driving home.
For dinner we walked down to the marina and ate delicious calamari and salad at Dimillo’s flaoting restaurant. The next morning we went to the farmer’s market, the Artist and Craftsman Supply (where I bought Schmincke pastels for more than 1/2 off), went to Maine Craft (where I bought those two gorgeous handwoven dish towels for my newly cleaned up kitchen–see bottom photo), and had brunch at Bayside American Cafe (where I had poached eggs on avocado toast).
The farmer’s market was particularly wonderful. The tulips were amazing, the paper artist did beautiful, meticulous work, the oatmeal cookies were yummy and made with their own grains, the mushrooms and cheese were incredible (I bought some of both). It was a perfectly lovely day and we had wonderful conversations with everybody, so see if you can give them some business here:

This expensive little jaunt to Portland (thank goodness lodging was free!) was a perfect end to a marvelous Maine getaway. So grateful for it all!
