I’ve been thinking about the word Viridescence since being in Guadeloupe, and finally painted it. The word means tending to become green, and I didn’t use any greens making it. Metaphysically, I like to think of “tending toward green,” as signifying the irresistibility and invincibility of life itself. Being surrounded by the irrepressible tropical jungle supported and highlighted this idea.
The painting has loads of layers and it took long time to build them up. It is 20″x30″ and done on stretched canvas in acrylic, collage, ink.
