Lessons from White Kitchen Floors (Quote by Heather Maio)

White Floors Heather Maio quote

“I didn’t want these white floors.

Who wants to see their mess so prominently displayed. I wanted something with more forgiveness. Darker. To hide the crumbs, spills and LIFE that occurs in here.

But I was out voted . White won over gray.

Turns out I was wrong, I love these floors for all the reasons I thought I would hate them.

They show everything.

You know when the light hits your windows and every mark appears. It’s like that – but all the time.

I’m mopping more than ever. I’ve found I like it better this way.

The messes stay managed. Things are picked up promptly. Spills get cleaned. Nothing is left to be discovered by bare feet wondering wtf they just stepped in.

Everything is a metaphor to me. I will find deeper meaning in the mundane 100% of the time.

These floors are a representative of where I am at this point of my life. I don’t want to hide the mess anymore.

I want to see it.

I want it to be in front of my face and in my awareness 100% of the time.

It’s better this way. Things gets addressed. Emotions get felt. Bullshit gets handled.

The proverbial crumbs don’t pile up. It can feel like more work – always being aware. But it’s far less. Problems stay small.

I finally figure out – It’s only when you ignore them that they have a chance to grow…”

    Good metaphor. Noted.
However, I prefer COLOR, like…our very colorful Polly Castor!!

But, hey, Truth works in all kinds of …. Colors!

I prefer colour too and we sometimes dog sit for our daughter so a white floor would be a disaster!
However, we are all free to choose for ourselves, which is great news.

Well, I only quoted it for the metaphor.
