Reading Challenge for 2022

Happy New Year!

I’m so glad so many of you continue to want to participate in this Reading Challenge. If you’ve never done it before, I think this would be a great year to start!

You choose what you read. We are still aiming for a 52 book goal– but after getting recent feedback– the categories are looser and more forgiving. As requested, there are a couple fun new categories too, just to change it up and keep it fun and fresh. Also new, is that at the end of the year, you all wanted to delineate your favorite fiction and non-fiction, to make recommendations easier to share.

Reading 20 pages a day yields 30 books a year, and many of us also listen to audio books while we walk, drive, or cook. It all adds up easily! So a good goal to make this happen this year is reading 22 pages a day in 2022, while also always having an audio book you’re making progress on. The audios for me are how I read the nonfiction I find harder to get through, but is interesting in bits and spurts. I read the fiction before bed, or on a quieter weekend evening around the fire or on the front porch.

Also note that some weeks and months I read more or less than others, but it all averages out over the year. Some books are longer than others and some seasons you’ll have more time in your schedule than others. There is to be no stress to any of this! It is meant to be fun and enlightening.

Print this list out or open it in a tab on your computer, and add books to the list as you read them. You’ll be surprised how many accrue. I’ve had people think they don’t read that much realize that they actually do, and others who really have wanted to include more reading in their life realize it is not such an unmanageable goal.

So here it is! Please join us in expanding our horizons together!
