Photos from November Hikes

I don’t think November gets enough acclaim for being a beautiful month, overshadowed as it is by the splash that is September and October. But even on our gray or rainy days, my walks have had amazingly lovely highlights for those willing to go out and see.

As I continue to walk the same ground day after day here, the scene in the course of this month is eventually changing to leafless again. But the sparkles still dance on the water, the moss and lichen are more intensely green again, the leaf litter is scattered around beautifully, the tree shadows are fascinating, the fungi are more visible, and the golden late afternoon light is sometimes astonishing.  And some of the little close up vignettes are perfect, abstract creations just waiting for a viewer to frame them!

I feel so grateful for how nature quietly parades its glory as a special treat for the mindful. This place has taught me mindfulness in a way nothing else has. Check out these shots of the wonder and transience of nature that I captured with my iPhone, all taken this November in Huntington State Park, which is becoming ever more dear to me.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
