Last Friday evening I went to an art show opening in Essex, Ct (see here) where I had the distinct pleasure of meeting David Schulz, whose work shown in this post were far and away my favorites of the show.
I love these two pieces. I have taken many photos of rocks in Maine that resemble these two works. I have thought of painting them as well, and he has done magnificently at capturing their form, energy, and essence. His use of the palette knife for these is perfect, and contributes to their strong vibrant character.
Apparently this is a new direction for this artist who has had a career in portraiture and illustration. You can check out his representational work here, and other palette knife paintings here. Maybe you want to give him some business?
