My Son Received His Congressional Medal

congressional medal award

What a way to start the year!

Today my son received his bronze Congressional medal during a short ceremony at church today, for work he did through NLC (National Leadership Council) with whom he worked on national and international leadership and service projects. (For instance, blog readers may remember his trip to Peru to build a school there…)

This award includes not only community service components, but adventure, physical fitness and spiritual components as well. His Sunday school teacher was his local mentor for this work, and presented the award today, that was sent by our congressman Chris Murphy, honoring Andrew’s “1000’s of hours of work.” Andrew, knew he had earned this award, but did not know he was going to receive it today, let alone in front of an audience. He was totally surprised and thoroughly delighted as the unfolding pictures show. We are proud of him!

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
