Wadsworth Antheneum

The Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford has a surprisingly good collection, including four Picasso’s, and paintings by Salvador Dali, Georgia O’Keefe, Helen Frankenthaler, Jackson Pollack, Winslow Homer, Childe Hassam, John Singer Sargent, Maxwell Parish, and many others.

The lovely, classic building built in 1845 has halls and foyer painted with modern art which I found oddly compelling. And the gift shop was outstanding too (Don’t miss the Van Gogh doll in the bottom photo complete with removable ear…) I’ve lived in Connecticut twenty years and this was my first time here. Heads up! Put this place on your itinerary sooner than I did; this place is an unexpected jewel…

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
